It's used to transition between the fire-rated floor/ceiling and the curtain wall system, often in conjunction with THERMAFIBER® FireSpan® insulation.
• Penetration Firestop Systems: Used in conjunction with approved fill, void, or cavity material sealants or other approved materials to firestop penetrations by pipes, cables, and other items through fire-rated walls and floors (tested to ASTM E814 or UL 1479).
• Fire Resistance of Building Joint Systems: Used with approved fill, void, or cavity materials in construction joint systems to maintain the fire rating of the assembly (tested to UL 2079).
• Compressible: Designed to be compression-fit into openings and joints, ensuring a tight seal without the need for mechanical fasteners in many applications. It should be cut slightly larger than the opening to achieve this compression fit, leaving no voids.
• Moisture Resistant: Does not readily absorb moisture and is non-deteriorating.
• Non-Corrosive: Will not corrode steel, aluminum, or copper.
• Mold Resistant: Inhibits the growth of mold and mildew.
• Acoustical Performance: Helps enhance the sound absorption and transmission loss characteristics of the assemblies in which it is used.

Installation

• Typically cut slightly larger than the opening or joint.
• Compression-fitted into the space to create a tight seal, ensuring no gaps or voids are present.
• In penetration and joint systems, it is used in conjunction with approved firestop sealants or other materials as specified in the UL or Intertek listings.
• For perimeter fire containment, it's installed between the fire-rated floor slab edge and the spandrel insulation (like FireSpan®).
